The 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

"Bridesmaids" and "The Hunger Games" dominate the nominations for the 21st annual edition of the MTV Movie Awards with eight bids apiece. For the first time, the net convened a panel of industry experts to determine the contenders in the dozen races. 

Both of these female-driven pictures contend for Movie of the Year against three other films that feature strong women: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," "The Help" and "Breaking Dawn: Part 1."

And both of the leading contenders boast a pair of performers who landed a leading four bids:Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig from "Bridesmaids" and "Hunger Games" star-crossed lovers Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson. "21 Jump Street" buddies Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill also received four nods apiece. 

This year's kudos include four new categories. All the Movie of the Year contenders but "Breaking Dawn: Part 1" are up for Best Cast. The fifth slot went to "21 Jump Street."

The ladies from "Bridesmaids" have to be frontrunners for Best Gut-Wrenching Performances. They vie for this popcorn bucket against Tom Cruise ("MI-4"), Ryan Gosling ("Drive"), Jonah Hill & Rob Riggle ("21 Jump Street") and Bryce Dallas Howard ("The Help").  

Howard is also in the running for the new prize Best On-Screen Dirtbag. She competes against "Horrible Bosses" Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell, "Bridesmaids" baddie Jon Hamm andOliver Cooper ("Project X").

Farrell is among those vying for Best On-Screen Transformation against Oscar nominees Rooney Mara ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Michelle Williams ("My Week with Marilyn") as well as Elizabeth Banks ("The Hunger Games") and Johnny Depp ("21 Jump Street").  

The only race not decided by popular vote is Breakthrough Performance. Nominees are Elle Fanning ("Super 8"), Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games"), McCarthy, Mara, and Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants"). 

Warner Bros. releases new trailer for 'The Dark Knight Rises' .

Warner Bros. has just revealed the full trailer of its upcoming blockbuster “The Dark Knight Rises,” the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Kevin De La Noy and Thomas Tull, with Jordan Goldberg serving as co-producer. The film is based upon characters appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Batman was created by Bob Kane.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Legendary Pictures. Slated for release beginning July 20, 2012, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Amanda Seyfried in New 'Lovelace' Poster.

Amanda Seyfried has taken on the teasing, inviting gaze of porn star-turned-activist Linda Lovelace. In this new poster, she captures the 70s-style allure that helped make Lovelace's skin flick Deepthroat a national phenomenon, but doesn't quite yet hint at the inner turmoil and tortured existence that made the late Lovelace's eventual story of women's rights campaigning such a compelling, and biopic-worthy, story.

Perhaps most impressive is the fact that Seyfried features alone on the poster, next to a cadre of bigger name stars, including James Franco (who plays Hugh Hefner), Sarah Jessica Parker (taking on the role of Gloria Steinem) and Sharon Stone (as Dorothy Boreman).

The film is one of two planned about Lovelace's life, though the other, the troubled Inferno, may not ever get off the ground.

Scarlett Johansson unveils Walk of Fame Star.

Scarlett Johansson was honored with the 2,470th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, and she thanked her lucky stars to be immortalized in cement.

“The Avengers” star told fans and friends she was “over the moon” about her latest accolade as she unveiled her plaque, confessing she never dared to dream she’s be among the 2,500 famous folk feted on Hollywood Boulevard.

A native New Yorker, Johansson said, “This industry in which I was practically raised has been so impossibly kind to me. There’s never a day where I go to set and don’t thank my lucky stars to simply be a working actor.”

The actress’ mother, grandmother and sister joined her “The Avengers” co-star Jeremy Renner at the ceremony.

Renner paid tribute to the unique actress, stating, “Scarlett is built like a classic Hollywood movie star. However, it is only betrayed by her no-nonsense attitude, her sharp wit and self-deprecating sense of humor that truly defines her alluring charm.”

And talking about his experiences with her on “The Avengers” set, he added, “For six months she continuously threw me around, beat me, stepped on me, and wiped the floor with my dignity and self-respect every day all with a smile on her face.

“But it was her emotional intelligence and commitment to truth that allowed for me to be a better actor and, as a friend, made me a better man.”

Craig was spotted in action during a chase scene through the market.

Skyfall is due for release in the UK on 26 October 2012.

Robert Pattinson to star in Saddam Hussein Thriller.

 

After finishing work on Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 and Cosmoplis, the actor has reportedly signed on to star in dramatic new movie Mission: Black List - about the man who tracked down Saddam Hussein.

According to reports, Pattinson will star as American army interrogator Eric Maddox in the new movie, the man who played a key role in the tracking of Saddam Hussein, and his eventual arrest in December 2008.

Based on a book written by Maddox himself, it's thought the chilling flick, described as a 'psychological thriller' will be produced Ross M Dinerstein, and has been adapted for screen by Erik Jendresen, also responsible for Band of Brothers.

Eva Longoria’s Goes 1920s Glam In “For Greater Glory”.

The plot of the film is centered on the Cristero War in Mexico, and Eva plays Tulita, the devoted wife of General Enrique Gorostieta (Garcia).
