Legendary film!!!

The Queen(2006)

The British prime minister and the Royal Family find themselves quietly at odds in the wake of a national tragedy in this drama from director Stephen Frears. On August 31, 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales died in an auto accident in Paris; despite the controversial breakup of her marriage to Prince Charles, she was still one of the most famous and best-loved women in the world, and the public outpouring of emotion over her passing was immediate and intense. However, given the messy circumstances of Diana's breakup with Charles, official spokespeople for the Royal Family were uncertain about how to publicly address her passing. It didn't take long for the media to pick up on the hesitation of Buckingham Palace to pay homage to Diana, and many saw this as a sign of the cool emotional distance so often attributed to the royals, which in this case was widely seen as an insult against Diana and the many people who loved her. Prime Minister Tony Blair (played by Michael Sheen) saw a potential public-relations disaster in the making, and took it upon himself to persuade Queen Elizabeth II (played by Helen Mirren) to make a statement in tribute to the fallen Diana -- an action that went against the taciturn queen's usual nature. The Queen was released the same year that Helen Mirren played Queen Elizabeth I in an acclaimed miniseries for British television; The Queen also gave Michael Sheen his second opportunity to play Tony Blair after portraying the prime minister in the television film The Deal.

The weekly legend of the Big Screen!!!

Jean Simmons

Demure British beauty Jean Simmons was born January 31, 1929, in Crouch End, London. As a 14-year-old dance student she was plucked from her school to play Margaret Lockwood's precocious sister in Give Us the Moon (1944), and she went on to make a name for herself in such major British productions as Caesar and Cleopatra(1945), Great Expectations (1946) (as the spoiled, selfish Estella), Black Narcissus (1947) (as a sultry native beauty), Hamlet (1948) (playing Ophelia to Laurence Olivier's great Dane and earning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination), The Blue Lagoon (1949) and So Long at the Fair (1950), among others.

In 1950 she married actor Stewart Granger and that same year starred in the Frank Sinatra/Marlon Brando musical Guys and Dolls (1955/I); she used her own singing voice and earned her first Golden Globe Award. Simmons divorced Granger in 1960 and almost immediately married writer-director Richard Brooks, who cast her as Sister Sharon opposite Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry (1960), a memorable adaptation of the Sinclair Lewis novel. That same year she costarred with Kirk Douglas in Stanley Kubrick's Spartacus (1960) and played a would-be homewrecker opposite Cary Grant in The Grass Is Greener (1960).

Off the screen for a few years, she captivated moviegoers with a brilliant performance as the mother in All the Way Home (1963), a literate, tasteful adaptation of James Agee's "A Death in the Family." After that, however, she found quality projects somewhat harder to come by, and took work in Life at the Top (1965), Mister Buddwing (1966), Divorce American Style (1967), Rough Night in Jericho (1967), The Happy Ending(1969) (a Richard Brooks film for which she was again Oscar-nominated, this time as Best Actress).

Jean continued making films well into the 1970s. In the 1980s she mainly appeared in TV mini-series, such as "North and South" (1985) and"The Thorn Birds" (1983). Jean made a comeback to films in 1995 in How to Make an American Quilt (1995) co-starring Winona Ryder and Anne Bancroft, and most recently played the elderly Sophie in the English version of Hayao Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle (2004). She now resides in Santa Monica, California, with her dog Mr. Gates and her two cats, Adisson and Megan.

'Twilight' stars cement their place in Hollywood.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner have officially cemented their place in Hollywood.

The famous trio were greeted by hundreds of screaming fans as they added their mark in cement at the cinema.
"I think this is the coolest thing I've done in my life," said Stewart of the event.
Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the films, thanked the fans for their support.
"This is just an incredible honour because of how young we are and it's kind of ridiculous and amazing at the same time.
"It's all down to you guys to drive this franchise forward."

Lautner, who plays bare-chested Jacob Black, added: "There are a few moments that mean so much, it's really hard to explain, and this is definitely one of those."
Real-life couple Rob and Kristen, who normally shy away from showing any affection at public events, were in a flirty mood and only had eyes for each other.

The fourth instalment of the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, opens in cinemas on November 18.

New James Bond film ‘Skyfall’ unveiled.

LONDON: The new James Bond film “Skyfall” was unveiled on Thursday, with Daniel Craig returning as 007, half a century after the superspy’s first appearance on the silver screen.

Oscar winner Sam Mendes is directing the film, due for release in late 2012, five decades after Sean Connery first played the debonair secret agent in “Dr No”, launching one of the world’s most popular film franchises.
Spanish actor Javier Bardem will play the villain and Judi Dench again takes on the role of Bond’s tough boss “M” and head of spy agency MI6, the film’s producers told a London press conference attended by some of the stars.
British actors Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney were also in the cast, and the “Bond girls” would be played by French actress Berenice Marlohe and British actress Naomie Harris.
Mendes reassured fans that the latest movie in the series, legendary for its fast-paced action scenes and daredevil stunts, would contain “all the elements of a classic Bond movie, including a lot of action.”
In keeping with its classic formula, the movie, which is due to begin filming soon, will see the tuxedo-wearing, martini-quaffing spy getting into scrapes across the world, in London, Scotland, Shanghai and Istanbul.
The film, which will have its first release in Britain and Ireland on October 26 next year and its US release on November 9, sees the world’s most famous secret agent on a mission to track down and destroy a threat to MI6.
It is Craig’s third time playing Bond after the films “Casino Royale” in 2006 and “Quantum of Solace” in 2008.
Despite the huge popularity of the Bond franchise, the latest film nearly did not make it off the drawing board after studio giant MGM got into severe financial difficulties.
The project was put on ice in April last year after Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was offered for sale to resolve its debt problems and stave off bankruptcy.
But the legendary studio, with a catalogue that includes the Bond franchise as well as the “Pink Panther” and “Rocky” series, announced a debt-restructuring rescue deal late last year, paving the way for Bond’s return.
MGM — famous for its trademark roaring lion logo — announced in October last year that its creditors had approved a reorganisation plan with US firm Spyglass Entertainment.
“It was frustrating because there was really nothing I could do about it,” Craig told Thursday’s press conference. “It was a financial issue and I just had to let them get on with it.”

'J. Edgar' premiere

Leonardo DiCaprio helped kick off the AFI Fest on Thursday night with the debut of his new drama, "J. Edgar." DiCaprio stars as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover in the film about the man's private life and public image.

“J. Edgar,” Clint Eastwood’s biopic about controversial FBI director, premiered Thursday at the AFI Film Festival in Hollywood.
On Wednesday, audiences will get to see Leonardo DiCaprio transform into Hoover both as a young and old man. The latter required a quite impressive transformation through makeup. In an early review, the Hollywood Reporter’s Todd McCarthy calls the actor’s performance “vigorous, capable” and “one that carries the film and breathes new life into the old tradition of plain real folk achieving retroactive allure by being played by attractive stars.”
We’ll have more coverage of “J. Edgar” coming up to its release Wednesday. Watch photos from the red carpet below.
